Welcome To Ottawa (National Capital Region) Basketeers

Recently an Ottawa (National Capital Region) women’s shelter experienced a tragic fire in which one of the residents died. We were moved to do something but were not sure where to begin. As things sometimes happen in life we had our answer a day or two after the fire. An article appeared in a local newspaper describing the work of the Basketeers. We checked into the website and felt that this was it, this is what we could do. At the end of 2009 we are starting out slowly but with the support and participation of family, friends and our community at large we feel that this has potential to grow into something wonderful for the numerous local women’s shelters. Our dream is to be able to provide baskets for women throughout the year. We will be dropping off baskets 3 times a year to local women’s homeless shelters and shelters serving women and children fleeing violence.
With guidance from Cheryl and the other Basketeers we hope to make our region a success for the women in Ottawa who need our help.
